Senior Executives

Kevin Lafferty

President and Chief Executive Officer

Kevin Lafferty joined Lagoon in March 2019 as President and Chief Executive Officer and serves on the Board of Managers. Previously, Kevin worked for Devon Energy Corporation, most recently as Senior Vice President, Exploration and Production, where he directed major operating divisions and corporate groups, and managed large projects throughout the organization. Kevin also served on the Board of Directors for EnLink Midstream LLC (NYSE:  ENLC) and EnLink Midstream Partners, LP (ENLK) while controlled by Devon. Prior to Devon, Kevin was employed at Enbridge in their Gulf of Mexico division, and Phillips 66 in their downstream refining and petrochemicals business. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas. He serves in a number of leadership roles to various organizations, including Past Chairman of the University of Kansas Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Advisory Board, Past President of the Oklahoma City Ballet Board of Trustees, Director of the Petroleum Alliance of Oklahoma, and member of the Leadership OKC Board of Directors.

Bryan Carey

Chief Financial Officer

Bryan Carey joined Lagoon in August 2020 after serving over 14 years with Chesapeake Energy in various leadership roles supporting Corporate Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Reserves, and as a strategic advisor to cross-functional teams primarily operating in the Marcellus, Haynesville, Eagle Ford, and Barnett plays. Bryan also served four years with Triana Energy, a start-up private equity firm and parent to Columbia Natural Resources, which achieved a $3.2 billion exit value conversion from a $300 million entry investment. He has extensive experience in M&A, capital markets, treasury, risk management, FP&A, and public/private financial reporting. Bryan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a Master of Business Administration, both from Marshall University, and he is a licensed CPA.

Kevin Heasley

Chief Operating Officer

Kevin Heasley joined Lagoon in April 2018 as Senior Vice President of Operations. Previously, Kevin served as Production Services Manager at SandRidge Energy. Prior to joining SandRidge, Kevin served six years in the U.S. Navy onboard the Nuclear Attack Submarine USS MONTPELIER, holding multiple leadership roles in the Engineering Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.

Caitlyn Jackson

Chief Commercial Officer

Caitlyn Jackson joined Lagoon in April 2019. Prior to Lagoon, Caitlyn operated a consulting company for 3 years, offering reservoir engineering and business development services to both operators and financial institutions. Previous to consulting, Caitlyn served 8 years with Devon Energy Corporation, where she held a variety of technical and commercial roles across the upstream and midstream value chains.  Caitlyn holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma.

Jeff Starling

Chief Legal and Administrative Officer, & Corporate Secretary

Jeff Starling joined Lagoon in April 2019 and serves as Chief Legal and Administrative Officer, and Corporate Secretary, which includes responsibility for health, safety, and environment; land and regulatory; human resources; government relations; and corporate communication. Jeff has an AV (preeminent) peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell. Prior to Lagoon, Jeff served for 7 years as in-house counsel at Devon Energy Corporation, most recently as Assistant General Counsel, where he supported the company’s operations teams and directed the company’s litigation. Before joining Devon, Jeff was a litigation partner at McGuireWoods LLP in Richmond, Virginia. Jeff also has lived and worked in Washington, D.C., as a legislative aide to former U.S. Senator John W. Warner, and in Roanoke, Virginia, as a law clerk to former U.S. District Court Judge Samuel G. Wilson. Jeff received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Wake Forest University. Jeff has served in a number of leadership roles to various community organizations, including Chair of the Board of Trustees of Science Museum Oklahoma, President of the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Philharmonic Society, Council of Advisors for the State Chamber of Oklahoma, and Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Adam Doty

Vice President of Land

Adam Doty joined Lagoon as Vice President of Land in October 2018. Prior to Lagoon, Adam served for 4 years as the Director of Field and Water Management at White Star Petroleum, where he supported the company’s drilling and completion operations and oversaw the regulatory compliance team. Before joining White Star, Adam was the Manager of Field Services at Chesapeake Energy, leading the Anadarko Basin, Fayetteville, and Mid-Continent Business Unit surface development teams. Adam started his E&P career building well sites in the Barnett Shale, as a Field Representative on the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Project for Chesapeake Energy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma. He has served in a variety of capacities for various community-based organizations.

Greg Kent

Vice President of Project Management

Greg Kent joined Lagoon in April 2019 as Vice President, Project Management and Planning. Previously, Greg served 5 years with Great Plains Oilfield Rental, most recently as Director, Business Operations where he directed six operating field locations and corporate groups including managing large projects throughout the Patterson-UTI Energy (the parent of Great Plains Oilfield Rental). Prior to Great Plains, Greg culminated a military career by serving as a Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Air Force as a Director of Staff of the 552 Air Control Wing (Tinker AFB OK) and Deputy Group Commander of the 379 Air Expeditionary Wing (AI Udeid AB, Qatar). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Iowa State University, a Master of Science in Aviation Management from Southeast Oklahoma State University, a Master of Science in Organizational Analysis from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma Christian University.

Chris Schinnerer

Vice President of Business Development

Chris Schinnerer joined Lagoon in June 2019. Prior to Lagoon, Chris served 7 years with Devon Energy Corporation, where he held roles of increasing responsibility in marketing and strategic planning most, recently directing gas marketing efforts for the Permian and Powder River Basins. Prior to Devon, Chris was employed at Goldman Sachs, the National Security Council and Department of Defense. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a Masters in Energy Finance & Policy from Columbia University.

Tabor Smith

Vice President of Water Sourcing

Tabor Smith joined Lagoon in July 2022 as Commercial Director of Water Sourcing. Prior to Lagoon, Tabor served in various leadership positions in water related roles in the Permian Basin with Laredo Petroleum and Endeavor Energy Resources, with a focus on designing, implementing, and operating large water midstream assets. Most recently, Tabor served as Vice President of Operations at Mustang Energy Services. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction and Industrial Technology degree from Texas State University.
